• Battery fire in Syosset home displaces four people (newsday.com) — Firefighters from Plainview and neighboring departments helped quickly contain a Sunday morning garage fire in nearby Syosset that displaced four residents but caused no injuries. Officials say an overcharged battery likely sparked the blaze, which was brought under control in about 20 minutes and remains under investigation by county fire and police squads.
