Prior Felon Arrested on Gun and Drug Charges (minorityreporter.net) — Federal prosecutors say a 36-year-old Rochester man has been arrested on charges of trafficking large quantities of fentanyl and cocaine and illegally possessing firearms after a long-term Rochester Police investigation. Authorities report seizing cash, drugs, and guns from multiple city residences, while emphasizing the defendant remains presumed innocent as the case proceeds in federal court.
   

2. As school year looms, RCSD addresses past challenges, new approaches (13wham.com) — Rochester families are getting ready for RCSD schools to reopen on Sept. 8, with district leaders promising enough teachers, on-time buses, and stronger mental health supports. Officials say payroll issues are largely stabilized, a strict classroom tech ban remains in place, and a new community task force will help shape future budgets and fight chronic absenteeism.
   

3. Rochester Red Wings hosting free Home Run Derby at ESL Ballpark on Sept. 22 (whec.com) — A free Rochester Home Run Derby is coming to ESL Ballpark on Tuesday, Sept. 22, with tickets available at Vision Automotive Group locations around the area. Local high school and college players, plus celebrities, will compete, with the first 1,000 fans receiving free food and many giveaways. Damar Hamlin will host an autograph session during the evening.
   

4. Rochester's Bhutanese community holds candlelight vigil in Henrietta for Nepal flood victims (whec.com) — Members of Rochester's Bhutanese community gathered Thursday night at their Henrietta community center for a candlelight vigil honoring loved ones lost in Nepal's devastating floods. With more than 1,200 deaths reported, organizers say nearly everyone knows someone affected and are inviting local residents to support relief efforts through donations being collected by the Bhutanese Community of Greater Rochester.
   

5. Long Island real estate firm expands Rochester-area portfolio (rbj.net) — A Long Island investment firm has bought the building housing the Price Rite at 1230 University Ave. in Rochester for $3 million, marking its third major local purchase in a year. The company previously acquired Town Centre Plaza on East Henrietta Road and Stoneridge Plaza on West Ridge Road, signaling continued outside investment in key Rochester-area shopping centers.
