• Opera Star Returns To Rockville Centre As High Holy Days Soloist (patch.com) — Rockville Centre residents will see hometown baritone Samuel Rachmuth return to Central Synagogue–Beth Emeth as cantorial soloist for this year's High Holy Day services. The Hempstead Avenue native, now a professional opera singer, is collaborating with Rabbi Aviva Bass to blend his classical training with deep personal and spiritual ties to the synagogue where he grew up.
   

• Sept. 11 events for 25th anniversary (newsday.com) — A major 9/11 sunrise memorial at Town Park in Point Lookout will feature a color guard from the Rockville Centre Fire Department, local clergy, music, and a remembrance wall overlooking the ocean. The guide also lists dozens of other Long Island ceremonies, services, and exhibits through mid-October where residents can honor victims, first responders, and those lost to 9/11-related illnesses.
