Ovid Benjamin “Ben” Sparks III spent decades serving congregations and social ministries, especially in Richmond, Virginia. His life’s work focused on justice, community leadership, and global mission, and he is survived by family spread across several states, including North Carolina.
   

• Vickie Lynn Jones Letterman (ourlocalcommunityonline.com) — Burnsville is mourning the passing of 71-year-old Vickie Lynn Jones Letterman, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and woman of strong faith. A member of Faith Baptist Church, she was known for caring for others through her cooking and baking. Services are being held locally, and her family suggests memorial donations to Compassionate Care WNC or Gideons International in Burnsville.
