• Sheriff warns re-opening Jail North is one step; the department remain understaffed (wccbcharlotte.com) — Mecklenburg County has reopened Detention Center North in Charlotte, moving more than 200 inmates from the overcrowded Uptown jail into a program-focused facility. While this eases crowding and expands rehabilitation options, Sheriff Garry McFadden warns that severe staffing shortages remain and says he'll seek additional county funding to fully staff the jail and complete the next phase of reopening.
   

• Gorillaz brought a collaborative, generational and cultural set to Charlotte with Deltron 3030, Little Simz and Posdnuos (clture.org) — Gorillaz's first-ever Charlotte show packed Spectrum Center with a multigenerational, sold‑out crowd and surprise guest appearances from Deltron 3030, Little Simz, Bootie Brown, and Posdnuos. Damon Albarn repeatedly shouted out Charlotte while delivering a career‑spanning, highly visual set that blended new material from "The Mountain" with fan favorites like "Feel Good Inc." and "Clint Eastwood."
