Owner Will Brinkley, who farms 300 acres between Clemmons and Welcome, warns that a weaker corn crop could raise livestock feed costs statewide, though he’s holding prices steady for now and hoping for soaking rains soon. 
• Driver flees license checkpoint, leads deputies on 90 mph chase in Winston-Salem (abc45.com) — A Clemmons resident was arrested after deputies say he fled a late-night license checkpoint in Winston-Salem, leading to a 90 mph chase and minor property damage. The 27-year-old now faces multiple traffic-related charges and is being held in Davidson County Jail on a secured bond, with a court appearance set for later this month.
