3. 5 charged, $180,000 seized in illegal gambling investigation at Raleigh sweepstakes parlor (wral.com) — Raleigh police and state Alcohol Law Enforcement shut down the Golden 5 Sweepstakes Parlor on Calvary Drive after a long-running investigation into illegal gambling, drugs, and weapons violations. Officers seized more than $180,000, illegal firearms, and gambling equipment, and five people now face felony charges, which police say has already made the surrounding area safer.
   

4. Banjos, bands and big crowds fill the city for Raleigh's Wide Open Music Festival (abc11.com) — Raleigh's Wide Open Music Festival is in full swing this weekend, with performances shifting to Fayetteville Street and thousands of visitors expected. Featuring 40 bands across multiple stages, the three-day event highlights bluegrass and other genres while celebrating North Carolina's musical roots and drawing both locals and out-of-state visitors to NC State's Centennial Campus and downtown.
   

5. Veeva Vault Technical Consultant (cognizant.com) — A tech services firm is hiring a Veeva Vault Technical Consultant for a hybrid role that requires three days a week in Raleigh, with applications open until October 30, 2026.
