1. Youngstown, Ohio: Cardinal Mooney Freshman Luke Durst Dies After ATV Crash, Saves Six Lives Through Organ Donation (theunionstar.com) — Youngstown is mourning Cardinal Mooney freshman Luke Durst, who died after an ATV accident, while his family's decision to donate his organs is expected to save six lives. The school community has gathered in prayer, held a hero walk, and adjusted events like soccer games and homecoming as students receive counseling and chaplain support.

2. Board of Elections Will Relocate to Former Youngstown School (businessjournaldaily.com) — Mahoning County's Board of Elections is moving its headquarters to the former Williamson Elementary School on Williamson Avenue in Youngstown, aiming to be in place before the November 2027 general election. Officials say the new site keeps the office in the county seat, improves access for most voters, and offers better parking and storage than the aging Oakhill Renaissance Place facility.

3. $30 million in bonds approved for Mahoning County Government Center (wfmj.com) — Mahoning County commissioners have approved more than $30 million in bonds to build a new government center in downtown Youngstown, consolidating many public agencies into one accessible hub. Leaders say the modern facility, anchored by Jobs and Family Services lease payments, should reduce long-term costs while improving technology, accessibility, and reliability of county services for residents.

4. Youngstown business owners frustrated after shop hit by car for second time within month (wkbn.com) — Youngstown's Cyclone Auto Seat Covers has been hit by cars six times in six years, including two crashes within the past month at Oak Hill and Indianola, raising serious safety concerns for workers and neighbors. The owners, in business in the city for 83 years, say speeding drivers and a possibly removed traffic light make the intersection dangerous and want guardrails or speed bumps added.

5. Tenants of downtown apartment building receive termination notices from SOBE (wkbn.com) — Downtown Youngstown residents at Erie Terminal Place are being warned their steam heat and hot water could be shut off after SOBE Thermal sent 10-day termination notices over $25,700 in unpaid invoices. The building's owner, Dominic Marchionda, disputes the sharply higher summer bills, vows to fight the charges legally, and promises tenants will still have heat and hot water this winter.
