1. An iconic Portland Chinese restaurant is gone. Its name lives on in affordable housing (opb.org) — A new 124-unit affordable housing complex, Legin Commons, has opened in Southeast Portland's Jade District, just a block from the former site of the beloved Legin Restaurant. The project, backed by regional housing bonds and Portland Community College land, is now accepting applications and will soon welcome tenants, while community partners plan on-site services to support residents' financial and job growth.
   

2. Portland Council to vote on ban on secret NDAs with Data Center Developers (kptv.com) — Portland's City Council is set to vote Wednesday on a resolution banning secret non-disclosure agreements with data center developers, aiming to increase transparency around massive power and water demands. The move comes as data centers already drive up electricity use statewide and neighboring cities impose moratoriums, signaling Portland may soon consider its own limits on hyperscale facilities.
   

3. 'Cars are all backed up': Portland area braces for first Monday morning commute since I-5 SB closure (koin.com) — Southbound I-5 through central Portland is fully closed between I-405 and I-84 for at least five weeks, and drivers are already seeing heavy backups on neighborhood streets. With ODOT warning travel times could double or triple, locals are urged to plan detours, expect congestion into North Portland, and check TripCheck or KOIN's closure lists before commuting.
   

4. Family seeks answers after Portland shooting leaves 23-year-old dead: 'He was so loving' (kgw.com) — A Portland mother is demanding answers nearly a month after her 23‑year‑old son, Titus Rohde, was fatally shot near Tilikum Crossing during an outdoor rave. Family and friends rallied outside the Multnomah County Courthouse, urging Portland Police and the district attorney to move faster as they await arrests and ask anyone with information to come forward.
   

5. Fall Colors in Portland, Oregon: Latest Updates (news-usa.today) — Early fall colors are already appearing across Portland, with cooler air and changing leaves showing up in neighborhoods, Washington Park, and Hoyt Arboretum. City crews are preparing for leaf-clogged drains while local businesses and tourism groups anticipate more visitors seeking foliage views around town in the coming weeks.
