2. Flock camera warnings spark demand for transparency in Southeast Portland (koin.com) — Neighbors in Southeast Portland are posting warnings about a suspected Flock surveillance camera in the Fred Meyer lot at Cesar Chavez and Hawthorne, raising concerns about data sharing and immigration enforcement. City Councilor Angelita Morillo says Flock has not answered her office's questions about how many cameras operate in Portland or what happens to collected data.
   

3. Graffiti on Pride Flagpole at NE Portland home sparks bias crime investigation (koin.com) — A Northeast Portland veteran's home displaying a Pride-themed U.S. flag was vandalized with anti-flag graffiti, prompting a Portland police bias crime investigation. Neighbors have rallied with offers to help and messages of support, while the homeowner is briefly leaving the graffiti up to spark conversations about respect and inclusion in the community.
   

4. Portland homeless shelter Bybee Lakes raises funds to keep 100 beds cut by Multnomah County (kgw.com) — Hundreds of Portland shelter beds are being cut after city and county budget shortfalls, but North Portland's Bybee Lakes Hope Center has raised $1.3 million to keep 100 threatened beds open. The shelter's leaders now question relying on Portland and Multnomah County funding, as officials prioritize housing placements over expanding shelter capacity.
   

5. Portland's baby elephant just made history with a vaccine that could save her life (oregonlive.com) — Portland's Oregon Zoo just helped baby elephant Tula-Tu make medical history by giving her an experimental mRNA vaccine against a deadly elephant virus, and she's doing well so far. Her ongoing blood tests will support global research, while locals can still visit the playful calf and explore new food carts and events highlighted for Portlanders.
