New Affordable Housing Project For Seniors Coming To Whitpain
Groundbreaking was held on the project to help low income seniors who are getting priced out of the area.

WHITPAIN TOWNSHIP, PA — A large new affordable housing project for seniors has broken ground in Whitpain Township, a move which officials hope will fill a critical gap for older low income residents with increasingly few choices to remain in the area.
Shoshanna Way, the 56-unit community, will be built by the non-profit Federation Housing. It's located at 953 Penllyn Blue Bell Pike.
“Our region faces a growing demand for affordable housing, especially as more older adults struggle with the rising costs of aging in place,” Federation's vice president, Eric D. Naftulin, shared in a statement. “Our mission is to expand access to quality, affordable housing, ensuring more individuals and families have the opportunity to live in the communities they call home.”

The plan has received the backing of Whitpain Township officials.

"Whitpain Township is pleased to have supported this project, which will provide quality, affordable housing to senior citizens in our local area," the township's Board of Supervisors Chairman Scott Badami said in a statement. "Indeed, Federation is re-purposing a plot of land in need of improvement to better use the space and do it for a worthy purpose."
The project will be spread across three acres and features two-story homes that blend in with the size and character of the surrounding neighborhood. Federation says it was built to maximize green space.
Federation communities also offer residents a variety of services, including social services, free van transportation, housekeeping, meal programs, housekeeping religious activities, recreation, and more.
