1. Beloved Elmwood Park Zoo Animal Dies (patch.com) — Norristown's Elmwood Park Zoo is mourning Wendy, a 23-year-old American bison and lifelong resident who was euthanized after a decline in health. As one of the zoo's longest-tenured animals, she was cherished by generations of local visitors and staff, who praised her exceptional longevity and the devoted care provided by keepers and veterinarians.
   

2. Montgomery County to relocate 9/11 Memorial in advance of 25th Anniversary (northpennnow.com) — Montgomery County's 9/11 Memorial is being moved to Elmwood Park in Norristown, with a public procession on September 1 and a rededication ceremony on September 11. Residents can line the route, attend viewing areas, and later visit the monument at its new, permanent Harding Boulevard location.
   

3. Montgomery County sheriff's deputy receives $7K from colleagues after fire (pottsmerc.com subscription) — In a Norristown-datelined show of solidarity, Montgomery County employees donated more than $7,000 from their paychecks to help a sheriff's deputy whose family lost their home in a July fire. Souderton man, ex-fire official, sent to prison for attempted sex assault (timesherald.com) — In a Norristown courtroom, a Souderton man was sentenced to 5–10 years in state prison plus probation for attempting to sexually assault a woman at knifepoint and related burglary charges. Prosecutors said the victim showed bravery throughout the case, while the judge accepted a plea agreement that also requires lifetime registration under Pennsylvania's sexual offender laws. Several additional charges were dismissed as part of the deal.
   

5. King of Prussia woman gets prison in $1.7 million Medicaid fraud scheme (timesherald.com) — From a Norristown courtroom, a King of Prussia woman received 17 months to 10 years in state prison for helping run a $1.7 million Medicaid fraud scheme tied to an East Norriton home care agency. Authorities say she and 19 others submitted false claims for services never provided, and she now shares responsibility for more than $1.7 million in restitution. Several co-defendants, including her daughter, have already been sentenced.
