1. Tiberi Studios Turns Philadelphia Art Into Textiles in Old City (mychesco.com) — An Old City textile studio is teaming up with Philadelphia artists for an October 2–11 exhibition at Paradigm Gallery, turning local ceramics and needlepoint into custom fabrics and furniture. Residents can browse and buy textiles and benches inspired by Philly makers while celebrating the city's long textile and furniture-making history, especially its former "Workshop of the World" neighborhoods.
   

2. Sen. Haywood Joins Neighboring State Representatives in Welcoming Over $4 Million to Improve Community Spaces (pasenate.com) — More than $4 million in state grants is headed to improve community spaces, with significant funding earmarked for Philadelphia's Mount Airy, Germantown, and citywide cultural sites. Projects include new elevators at Quintessence Theatre, accessibility upgrades at Woodmere, chimney restoration at Wyck House, and design work for affordable, ADA-accessible apartments, all aimed at preserving history and expanding inclusive public access.
   

3. Keith Haring's famed Point Breeze mural moves one step closer to historic designation (inquirer.com) — A beloved Keith Haring mural at 22nd and Ellsworth in Point Breeze just cleared a key hurdle toward becoming Philadelphia's first officially protected outdoor mural landmark. An advisory panel of the Historical Commission backed its historic designation, though the building's owner worries this could complicate needed structural work. Commissioners will make a final decision at their October 9 meeting.
   

4. Mayor Parker creates task force for data center guardrails in Philly (nbcphiladelphia.com) — Philadelphia officials just created a new task force to write strict rules for any future data centers in the city, after residents pushed for a moratorium and rallied at City Hall. The group will examine impacts on neighborhoods, water, energy use, and PECO bills, while two possible sites in South and Northeast Philadelphia remain only conceptual. City Council has not yet introduced legislation.
   

5. Dozens of people seen on images recovered from home in Philadelphia; some appeared lifeless (abc7.com) — Philadelphia police and the FBI are deep into a disturbing investigation centered on a home in Olney, where over a million images and videos show nearly 60 people, including several women who appear lifeless. Investigators are still identifying victims, re-examining the Chew Avenue property, and testing chemicals, while stressing that no bodies have been found yet but more searches are coming.
