• Fig Festival Crowd Likely to Smile Among the Sweets (travelswiththepost.com) — Pottstown-area fig fans can mark their calendars for Aug. 29, when the Pennsylvania Fig Festival returns to Althouse Arboretum in Upper Pottsgrove from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free, Pottstown-based event features workshops on growing and protecting fig trees, tastings, live music, vendors, and a fig tree raffle. Organizers hope to draw locals and visitors for a day of sweet, garden-focused fun.

• Limerick man sent to prison for causing fatal Route 422 crash while DUI (pottsmerc.com subscription) — A Limerick Township man has been sentenced to 4–10 years in state prison for a 2025 Route 422 crash that killed another driver, who later died at Pottstown Hospital. Prosecutors said he'd been drinking earlier at Sly Fox Brewing in Pottstown and was driving nearly 100 mph before the collision. The case highlights ongoing concerns about impaired, aggressive driving on local highways.
