WAYNE, PA — A rockin' good time is planned at Wayne's 118 North music venue this weekend, with Delaware's own Kid Davis & The Bullets hosting an album release show in celebration of their seventh studio record.

Kid Davis & The Bullets will be joined by Philadelphia based soul-rock outfit Cordelia Blue for the 8 p.m. show Saturday at 118 North. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are available online here.

Michael “Kid” Davis has led the Wilmington-based four piece, formerly a three piece, for more than 30 years, cooking up original rockabilly tunes.

But the band's new album and first in seven years, "Amsterdam," is their most varied yet, Davis said.

"It's an eclectic group of songs," he told Patch. "I think this album is the most diverse we've ever put out."

Despite the band's long history of dishing out rockabilly songs, "Amsterdam" barely has any rockabilly sentiments, he said.

For the new album, Davis said he leaned into roots rock and old country territory when writing the 10-track album.

"There are a lot of different styles and genres on it," he said.

Part of the shift stems from bassist Michael Ball, who one asked Davis why the band had to be categorized as one genre. Additionally, he called a review that described rockabilly as "creative cul-de-sac."

"To play standard rockabilly, it limits your songwriting, I think," he said. "At least it limited mine."

But Kid Davis & The Bullets have always been at the edge of rockabilly, according to Davis.

He recalled being told, "you're not a rockabilly band, you're a rock and roll band with an upright bass player."

"Which is probably true at this point," he said. "We kind of just play whatever we want, and we're getting away with it."

While the album is more varied than previous released, Davis said it has a cohesion.

"Amsterdam" was produced by James Everhart, of Cosmic Guilt. For one track titled "Last Summer," Davis said he was inspired by Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys. Everhart brought in two female vocalists to bring about those dreamy harmonies that are Wilson's signature sound, and Davis incorporated non-traditional chord changes that are in the vein of the late musician's writing style.

And on "All Hands on Deck," Davis wanted drumming akin to Benny Goodman's 1956 hit, "Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing)."

With the diversity on the album, Davis said the cohesion comes from himself.

"Because it's something I wrote, there are going to be similarities to what people hear," he said.

Also, he just didn't give a damn and said he's proud of the songs he wrote.

"Listening to the whole album, I thought, 'it works,'" he said. "There's a narrative there somewhere."

The new material from Kid Davis & The Bullets has been met with praise by fans, as well.

"That's all it takes," he said. "If you can make one of your stalwart fans respond positively, that's it."

The first single from "Amsterdam" was released Dec. 12, 2025. Listen to it below:

"Amsterdam" is out Saturday and available for preorder online here.

Kid Davis & The Bullets are Davis on guitar and lead vocals, Pat Kane on guitar and vocals, Ball on upright bass, and Paul Ramsey on drums. The band was inducted into the Delaware Rock and Roll Society Hall of Fame in September 2024.
