• Algae advisories lifted at Lake Tiogue, Oak Swamp Reservoir (turnto10.com) — Recreational activities are once again allowed at Oak Swamp Reservoir in Johnston after state health officials lifted algae-related advisories, citing low algae levels and no detectable toxins. Residents should still avoid any water that looks like green paint or pea soup and report suspicious blooms with photos to the state's Office of Water Resources. 
• Lincoln Suspends Mattress Pickup as Shredder Goes Offline (upriseri.com) — If you need to get rid of a mattress, you can still bring it to the Central Landfill's mattress recycling site in Johnston even while Lincoln's curbside pickup is suspended for about a month. The landfill's East Entrance on Shun Pike accepts up to three qualifying units per resident, but you should confirm current rules before loading your vehicle.
