Man Charged With Gun Attack At Providence Restaurant Surrenders

PROVIDENCE, RI — A man wanted in connection with a gun attack at a DePasquale Avenue restaurant Friday night. surrendered to police.

Nyzaiah Wooten, 23, turned himself in at Central Station about 5 a.m. Monday, Kristy dosReis, the chief public information officer for the Providence Department of Public Safety, said in an email.

Wooten was arraigned Monday morning on charges of felony assault, discharging a firearm when committing a crime of violence, carrying a pistol or revolver without a license or permit, and firing in a compact area.

Wooten was charged with the gun attack at Capri Seafood that left one man wounded.

The man was shot in the abdomen shortly before 9 p.m., police said in media release.

The gunman then ran off "following a verbal altercation," according to the release.

The wounded man was operated on at Rhode Island Hospital and is stable, the release said.
