Funded through Capital Project Sales Tax revenues without borrowing, the modern complex will replace the cramped, aging Hampton Avenue headquarters and promises better technology, healthier workspace, and more efficient service for Aiken County residents.
   

2. 56 Verizon sites out, affecting about 79,000 customers in Aiken County area (wach.com) — Tens of thousands of Verizon customers in Aiken, North Augusta, Graniteville, and Edgefield are facing cell service outages after 56 network sites went offline, with no restoration timeline yet. Local authorities urge residents to plan alternate ways to receive emergency alerts and say the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office will share updates as they learn more.
   

3. Aiken suspect dies in police custody after disorderly conduct arrest (theaugustapress.com) — A 36-year-old Aiken man died after becoming unresponsive in the back of a patrol car upon arrival at the Aiken County Detention Center following a disorderly conduct arrest. Aiken public safety officers, EMS, and hospital staff attempted life-saving measures, and now the Aiken County Coroner’s Office and SLED are investigating, with an autopsy planned to determine the cause of death.
   

4. Where Hooves Meet Harmony: Aiken's Signature Spring Evening Returns (augustaceo.com) — Aiken’s horse and music lovers can plan ahead for Horses and Harmony V on Saturday, April 25 at Stable View Farm, supporting the Aiken Symphony. The afternoon fundraiser pairs live orchestral music with choreographed equestrian performances, plus food, drinks, and an online silent auction, with proceeds backing concerts and education in Aiken.
   

5. 'Red, White and Brew' festivities set for Aiken's Good Girl May 15 (postandcourier.com) — Aiken residents can mark May 15 for Red, White and Brew at Good Girl Brewing Company, benefiting the Aiken County Veterans Council. From 6 to 10 p.m., the festival offers live music, craft beer, food, line dancing, and cornhole, with small entry fees for contests helping support local veterans’ services.
