1. City of Charleston set to repair failing drainage pipe on the East Side after repeated flooding (counton2.com) — Emergency repairs are coming to a failing stormwater pipe on Charleston's East Side, where even brief showers have flooded streets for years. The city and South Carolina Ports Authority will clean and reline the pipe from Columbus Street Terminal to Reid Street, aiming to cut flood times and extend the system's life by decades.
   

2. Mother says autistic child forcibly restrained; files lawsuit against Charleston County School District (live5news.com) — A Charleston mother has filed a lawsuit against Charleston County School District and Harbor View Elementary, alleging staff used excessive force while restraining her autistic child in 2024, causing physical and emotional harm. The complaint claims employees ignored the student's education plan and failed to notify the parent. The district says it has not yet been formally served and will respond once it is.
   

3. Charleston County Sheriff's Office involved in hit-and-run incident (abcnews4.com) — Charleston County deputies and a motorcyclist were injured early Saturday when a vehicle slammed into a patrol car during a traffic stop on I-26 near the Remount Road exit in North Charleston, then fled on foot. All three suffered minor injuries and were released from the hospital. State troopers are leading the hit-and-run investigation and are asking anyone with information to contact them or the sheriff's office.
   

4. Honoring Spoleto's history: Spoleto Festival seeks memorabilia ahead of 50th anniversary (counton2.com) — Spoleto Festival USA is asking Charleston-area residents to share photos, recordings, programs, and memories to help celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2027. You can email digital items or drop off physical memorabilia at 14 George Street during twice-monthly Thursday archive hours starting August 27, with staff on hand to assist and document contributions.
