• Four shot overnight at club in South Carolina, Richland County sheriff says (thestate.com) — Four people were shot early Sunday at La Rumba nightclub on Decker Boulevard in Columbia, with all victims taken to local hospitals and no deaths reported so far. The Richland County Sheriff's Department is still searching for suspects and urges tips, as this incident follows several other recent nightclub shootings across the Columbia area. 
• Guns to Gardens: Richland County event turns firearms into tools (wistv.com) — Richland County residents joined a "Guns to Gardens" event in Columbia where unwanted firearms were dismantled and transformed into gardening tools and jewelry. Partnered with McGregor Presbyterian Church and Raw Tools South, the effort emphasized peace, safe gun disposal, and even offered gift cards and free lock boxes for safer firearm storage.
• SCDOT seeks public input on I-26 bridge repair project in Lexington County (wltx.com) — State transportation officials want your feedback on planned repairs to the I-26 bridge over the Southern Railroad in Lexington County, a project expected to start in mid-2027 without major detours. Columbia-area residents can submit comments online, by mail to SCDOT's Park Street office in Columbia, or via email through October 15.
