Police Chief Mark Arnold says the system has helped solve serious crimes and stresses limits on data sharing and retention, while acknowledging that public debate over the fast-evolving technology is likely to continue.
   

• Ville to Ville Coastal Relay Brings 1,200 Runners to the Charleston Area (holycitysinner.com) — Mount Pleasant will host the finish of the sold-out Ville to Ville Coastal Relay on October 17, with 1,200 runners ending at a waterfront celebration on the Lawn at Ferry Wharf. The 68-mile course from Summerville through Mount Pleasant and nearby beach communities aims to showcase local scenery while raising more than $18,000 for Lowcountry charities.
