• Large alcohol wholesaler in South Carolina permanently closes, lays off hundreds (thestate.com) — Hundreds of West Columbia workers will lose their jobs as Republic National Distributing Company permanently closes its facility at 410 Foster Brothers Drive in the Lexington County Industrial Park between June and July. The alcohol wholesaler, a major local employer for nearly two decades, once expanded its site with multimillion-dollar investment but has now notified the state it will lay off 451 employees.
