• Franklin Pool to open "very soon" (johnsoncitypress.com) — Elizabethton’s Franklin Pool is finally nearing its long-awaited reopening after extensive repairs, with final concrete work expected as soon as weather allows. City staff and contractors have overhauled the nearly century-old facility, added heaters and accessibility-style entry, upgraded utilities and buildings, and completed lifeguard hiring so residents can enjoy a safer, more comfortable swim season very soon.
   

• Elizabehton City Council set to approve revenue-neutral budget for FY 27 (johnsoncitypress.com) — Elizabethton City Council is poised tonight to adopt a revenue-neutral budget for FY 27, aiming not to increase overall property tax collections despite recent reappraisals. Leaders plan to finalize the exact tax rate in July while funding city operations, capital projects, and a 3% employee raise, along with continued support for the Elizabethton school system and utilities.
   

• 9/11: Where Were You? (elizabethton.com) — The Elizabethton Star is marking the 25th anniversary of 9/11 by inviting local residents to share where they were when they heard about the attacks. With help from American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 2166, the paper will run an August series and a Sept. 9 commemorative section featuring selected 200-word remembrances from area communities.
