• State budget includes funds for Carter Co. fire engine replacements, Helene recovery (wjhl.com) — Elizabethton is set to receive more than $1.26 million in state funds to help cover Hurricane Helene recovery costs, alongside $5 million earmarked for Carter County. Lawmakers also secured $1.5 million to replace three volunteer fire department engines lost in the storm and additional money for Hampton High School’s bulldog water tower, with nearby Johnson County communities receiving separate recovery and youth sports funding.

The region’s median home price now sits at $282,000, up 4.4% year-over-year despite some smaller markets cooling.

• Jeremy Owens returns for fifth summer managing River Riders (wcyb.com) — Elizabethton baseball fans can look forward to another summer with Jeremy Owens returning to manage the Elizabethton River Riders for the 2026 Appalachian League season. The Johnson City native brings more than two decades of pro and college experience and says he’s excited to keep developing future college stars and see local supporters back at the ballpark soon.
