Simple assault and shoplifting topped reported crimes, while murders fell and weapon violations increased. Police also cleared a higher share of domestic violence cases, even as statewide domestic incidents declined.
   

2. Juvenile injured in shooting in Johnson City, police say (wcyb.com subscription) — Johnson City police are investigating a Sunday night shooting that left a male juvenile with a non-life-threatening arm wound near the Cherry Street Parking Lot. Officers responded after gunshot detection technology and 911 dispatch flagged the incident. The teen was taken to a local hospital, and investigators have identified a person of interest they are now trying to locate.
   

3. Federal judge dismisses Dahl suit against Johnson City (wcyb.com) — A federal judge has thrown out former prosecutor Kateri Dahl's lawsuit against Johnson City, ruling she failed to meet the required burden of proof. Dahl had claimed the city and former police leaders retaliated by not renewing her contract after she raised concerns about rape allegations involving Sean Williams. City officials and officers denied her claims, and the case is now dismissed.
   

4. TJ Peyton shines in ETSU's win over Tusculum (wcyb.com) — Football fans in Johnson City saw ETSU bounce back with a dominant 48–14 win over Tusculum, powered by a breakout performance from running back TJ Peyton. After limited reps since high school, Peyton energized the Bucs' offense and impressed new head coach Will Healy. The team now turns its attention to a high-profile matchup against North Carolina.
