5. Robots will soon roam a San Antonio suburb's sidewalks. Here's why (mysanantonio.com) — Universal City, just north of San Antonio, will soon send small Dax robots along 12 miles of sidewalks to check for cracks, slopes and other hazards that can hinder people with disabilities. Starting in early September, the bots will quietly map pedestrian trouble spots so engineers can plan future fixes, while city officials stress that privacy protections and human oversight are built in.
