• Flock cameras aid Amherst County investigations, sheriff says (wset.com) — Amherst County’s sheriff says new Flock license-plate cameras along Amherst Highway have already helped find a missing person, seize drugs, and catch an out-of-state fugitive. The county pays about $12,000 a year, mostly covered by a state grant, and officials insist the system is tightly controlled and used only to solve crimes, not monitor everyday drivers.

Supporters tout millions in potential tax dollars and dozens of positions, while opponents worry about gambling’s impact and addiction, with promised safeguards and treatment funding.
