Attendance Zones For 12 Loudoun County Elementary Zones Could Be Changed
The Loudoun County School Board is considering changes to the attendance zones for a dozen schools in the eastern part of the county.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA – The Loudoun County School Board this week will begin the process of reviewing attendance zones for a dozen public elementary schools in the eastern part of the county.
The Loudoun County School Board will launch a series of meetings on Thursday, starting with a brief on current enrollment at the 12 schools in question and a presentation of drafts of staff proposals. Not all schools will see changes in their enrollment zones.
The review is part of a five-year rolling process in which attendance zones for schools across the county are assessed.

According to the school board, in evaluating attendance zone changes, it will consider enrollment relief, capacity imbalances, special programs, special education needs, bus transportation logistics, non-contiguous attendance zones and potential revisions to the county's school transfer policy.
Two draft proposals are on the agenda. One would change the attendance zones for six schools; one would change none. The draft proposals can be found here.
After Thursday’s meeting, there will be work sessions and public hearings on Oct. 22 and Nov. 12, followed by a board discussion on Dec. 1, a briefing and public hearing Dec. 10, and the adoption of any changes Dec. 15.
