• NFL Coordinator's Son Found Competent, Shooting Trial To Proceed: Report (patch.com) — An Ashburn man accused of shooting his mother in their Northpark Drive home has been found mentally competent to stand trial, allowing the case to move forward in Loudoun courts. The 27-year-old, son of NFL coordinator Eric Bieniemy, now has new private counsel, with his next hearing set for November while his mother continues recovering.
   

• CIA officer David Rush, who was caught with $40M in gold bars, could cop plea deal (amedpost.com) — A former CIA officer living in Ashburn is negotiating a possible plea deal after federal agents reportedly seized hundreds of gold bars, cash, and luxury watches from his home in May. Prosecutors say the gold, valued around $40 million, belonged to the U.S. government, and both sides have asked for more time to finalize a pre-indictment resolution.
