Lee statue to heal a wounded city (seattletimes.com) — Charlottesville residents are being asked to weigh in as three finalist designs compete to turn the melted Robert E. Lee statue into new public art spread across city parks. The Swords into Plowshares project aims to transform a symbol of white supremacy into memorials that reflect local history, honor Black residents’ experiences, and create new gathering spaces around Charlottesville, Monticello, and the University of Virginia.
