Bob’s Discount Furniture Celebrates Fredericksburg Opening With $5K In Local Donations

Bob’s Discount Furniture presented a Random Acts of Kindness donation to Loisann’s Hope House representing Bob’s commitment to supporting housing-related causes. FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Bob’s Discount Furniture celebrated the opening of its new Fredericksburg store Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and $5,000 in donations to two local organizations.

Store Manager Jaedi Johnson cut the ribbon at the new 30,000-square-foot store at 1591 Carl D. Silver Parkway. Johnson was joined by Bob’s Divisional Vice President Adam Abbassi, Regional Sales Director Jim Kiernan, store employees and community guests.

As part of Friday's grand opening, Bob’s presented $2,500 donations to Loisann’s Hope House and Gladys West Elementary School. The donations were made through the company’s Random Acts of Kindness program.

Donations Support Fredericksburg-Area Organizations

Loisann’s Hope House Executive Director Cait Woodward accepted the organization’s donation from Johnson, Kiernan and Abbassi. Founded in 1987, Loisann’s Hope House operates six programs serving people and families experiencing homelessness and housing instability in Fredericksburg and the counties of Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George and Caroline.

Gladys West Elementary School Principal Courtney Wheeler accepted the school’s donation alongside Assistant Principal Connie Malmgren, Superintendent Dr. Marceline Catlett and Madison Scovell, the school's librarian and social media representative. Abbassi, Johnson and Kiernan represented Bob’s during the presentation.

The grand opening also highlighted Bob’s three-year partnership with Covenant House. Lisa Raymond, major gifts officer for Covenant House of Greater Washington, attended the event. Through Sept. 30, Bob’s is collecting donations for Covenant House through its Café Collections for a Cause program and will match donations made at its store cafés up to $75,000. The partnership also includes volunteer work and furniture donations.

The Fredericksburg location includes an in-store café offering free snacks. Bob’s Discount Furniture, founded in 1991, operates more than 200 showrooms across the United States and employs more than 5,800 people nationwide.
