New Fredericksburg Furniture Store Will Donate $5K At Grand Opening

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Bob’s Discount Furniture will celebrate the opening of a new Fredericksburg store Friday, Sept. 4, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and $5,000 in donations to two local organizations.

The 30,000-square-foot store is at 1591 Carl D. Silver Parkway. The grand-opening program is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 10 a.m.

Representatives from Bob’s Discount Furniture and local organizations are expected to attend, along with Fredericksburg Mayor Kerry Devine. The program will include remarks, a ribbon cutting and two check presentations.

Bob’s will donate $2,500 to Loisann’s Hope House, a family homeless shelter that opened in 1987. The organization operates six programs serving people experiencing homelessness and housing instability in Fredericksburg and the counties of Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George and Caroline.

The company will also give $2,500 to Gladys West Elementary School. School officials scheduled to attend include Principal Courtney Wheeler, Superintendent Marceline Catlett, Deputy Superintendent Matt Eberhardt and librarian Madison Scovell.

Other expected attendees include Cait Woodward, executive director of Loisann’s Hope House, and Lisa Raymond, major gifts officer for Covenant House of Greater Washington. Bob’s will also recognize Covenant House as a partner in its Café Collections for a Cause program.

The Fredericksburg store includes a café offering free snacks.
