Stafford Man Charged In Alleged Murder-For-Hire Killing On I-295, State Police Say

RICHMOND, VA — A Stafford County man and a Hampton man have been charged in what Virginia State Police describe as a murder-for-hire killing stemming from a September 2025 homicide on Interstate 295.

Virginia State Police announced that Special Agents with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation's Richmond Field Office arrested Zeke Rohde, 32, of Stafford, on April 28 in connection with the Sept. 23, 2025, killing.

Rohde is charged with aggravated murder involving killing for hire, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, shooting at an occupied vehicle, shooting from a vehicle and unauthorized use of an electronic tracking device.

A second suspect, Michael Wade, 52, of Hampton, was arrested June 8 on the same charges. Wade also faces an additional charge of solicitation of first-degree murder.

According to Virginia State Police, the arrests followed an extensive investigation by the agency's Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Authorities said the case remains an active investigation and that additional charges are pending.

State police did not release additional details about the victim or the circumstances surrounding the Sept. 23, 2025, homicide on Interstate 295.
