• NOVA Parks approves $2.3 million for Bull Run Festival of Lights, Pohick Bay park upgrades (ffxnow.com) — Lorton campers and parkgoers can expect major upgrades at Pohick Bay Regional Park, with $1.5 million earmarked for expanded RV hookups, new waterfront facilities, and renovated comfort stations. The same NOVA Parks capital budget also boosts Bull Run's popular Festival of Lights, adding new displays over the next five years, including camping-themed and Wizard of Oz features.
   

• Amtrak to temporarily halt services in & out of D.C. this October to make critical infrastructure upgrades – 'expect significant service reductions and train cancellations' (secretdc.com) — If you rely on Amtrak through D.C., expect major service changes October 16–26, but the Auto Train from Lorton to Florida is currently not listed among suspended routes. Many other trains south of Washington will see cancellations, bus substitutions, or shortened trips, so Lorton travelers should double-check itineraries before heading to the station.
