Juvenile Male Becomes Third Person Charged Over Shooting Death Of 18-Year-Old Manassas Man

Three people have now been charged in the death of an 18-year-old in Manassas in June.

MANASSAS, VA – A third person has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of 18-year-old Luis Angel Chavez of Manassas in June.

The Prince William County Police Department arrested a 17-year-old in connection with the crime on Wednesday, the department announced. The juvenile was arrested at his home in Manassas and is charged with felony murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and conspiracy to commit a felony. He is being held at the county’s juvenile detention center.

Prince William County police say officers with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the U.S. Marshals’ Task Force helped with the arrest.

Two people have already been arrested and charged in Chavez’s death: 18-year-old Markiss Alexander Medrano of Manassas and a 16-year-old boy, who were detained on June 25. Medrano is charged with second-degree murder and using a firearm to commit a felony. A police release at the time of their arrest said the juvenile was facing the same charges.

Medrano has a bond hearing scheduled for July 7.

Chavez was found collapsed in a backyard on Parrish Lane on June 15. Police determined that he had been shot in the Bull Run Mobile Home Community in the area of Peppertree Lane and Pebble Lane.
