PWC Supervisor's Day Job Has Him Pitching Data Centers, Raising Concerns: Report

MANASSAS, VA – A Prince William County supervisor’s role in pitching data centers to governments in a neighboring state has some residents concerned, according to a new report.

According to the Prince William Times, Supervisor Kenny Boddye, D-Occoquan, recently briefed the Charles Town, West Virginia, Utility Board about a proposed data center project on a wooded 235-acre property in West Virginia owned by the commercial real estate company that employs him, Ryan Stuart.

A legal expert cited by the Times says there’s no conflict of interest unless Boddye’s company pursues projects in Prince William County, and that Boddye says he sought input from the Virginia Conflict of Interest Council upon taking the job at Ryan Stuart.

However, some county residents, including activists, say Boddye’s record of voting to dissolve the county’s data center ordinance advisory group and successful effort to dilute county noise ordinances combine to make at least this commercial venture look bad.
