• Southbound George Washington Memorial Parkway Lane Closures Begin Oct. 5 (nps.gov) — If you rely on the George Washington Memorial Parkway, expect all southbound lanes to close in short segments between Tulane Drive and Alexandria Avenue from Oct. 5–8, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with traffic detoured onto Fort Hunt Road. Northbound lanes will stay open while National Park Service crews trim vegetation and clean along the corridor. Plan extra time, watch for detours, and consider alternate routes from McLean toward Alexandria.
   

• Best Park in Fairfax County (ffxnow.com) — One of Fairfax County's top-ranked parks is right in McLean at 9200 Old Dominion Drive, offering 800 acres of trails, wildlife, history, and sweeping Potomac River views.
