• Massive Fire Tears Through Fairfax County Home, Causes Partial Collapse (patch.com) — A late-night house fire in a Mount Vernon neighborhood near Fordson Road and Douglas Street caused part of a two-story home to collapse, but no residents or firefighters were hurt. Fairfax County crews battled heavy flames from outside, protected a neighboring house, and stayed on scene to check for hot spots while investigators work to determine the cause.
