16YO Girl Grabbed For Officer's Weapon During Domestic Dispute: Prince William Police
A Gainesville teen is charged with attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer after grabbing for an officer's gun, police say.
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA – A 16-year-old grabbed for an officer’s gun while being detained for a reported domestic assault, Prince William County police say.
According to the Prince William County Police Department, officers responded to a residence on the 7800 block of Crescent Park Drive in Gainesville just after midnight on August 6 to investigate a domestic dispute. Police say a 16-year-old girl assaulted a family member and was detained. While in custody, the girl grabbed the holstered firearm of one of the officers, police say.
Police say the firearm was never removed from the holster, and the girl was again secured. The girl was arrested and is charged with attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer, domestic assault and battery, and obstruction. She is being held at a juvenile detention center.
