• EvergreenHealth receives $100M gift for new patient tower (djc.com) — EvergreenHealth's Kirkland campus is moving ahead with plans for a new patient-care tower after receiving a record $100 million gift from the estate of local developer Dean Weidner. Combined with voter-approved levy funding, the donation will drive long-term expansion of hospital capacity, keeping more advanced care close to home for Kirkland and Totem Lake residents.
   

• Follow the Money: Phase 3 Thyroid Eye Disease, Pivotal Dravet Syndrome Gene Therapy, Pediatric Brain Cancer CAR T (clinicalresearchnewsonline.com) — A Kirkland biotech, EIT Pharma, has raised $35 million in Series A funding as the FDA reviews its application for lonafarnib, a potential first-in-class oral treatment for chronic hepatitis D. The capital will support regulatory review, manufacturing and commercial planning, while also advancing the company's broader infectious-disease pipeline and local operations.
   

• MESA counter-UAS radars added to JIATF-401 procurement vehicle (militaryembedded.com) — Kirkland-based radar maker Echodyne has landed a major federal IDIQ contract, worth up to $250 million over three years, to supply its MESA counter-drone radars to U.S. and allied users. The deal underscores the city's growing role in advanced defense technology, with Echodyne's AI-enabled systems supporting fixed and mobile missions against uncrewed aircraft.
