Kanawha County BOE hears update on former Garnet High School, patience wearing thin (wchsnetwork.com) — Kanawha County school leaders in Charleston are growing frustrated with slow progress on restoring the former Garnet High School into a community hub, and they're warning the property could revert back to the school system if plans stall. Foundation members say they're pursuing funding and structural evaluations after lightning damage, but still lack a clear budget or nonprofit status, leaving the building vacant and neighbors concerned.
   

2. Thunder in the Mountains tennis tournament wraps up indoors due to rain (wowktv.com) — A weekend-long Thunder in the Mountains college tennis tournament finished Sunday in Charleston after rain pushed the semifinals and finals from Schoenbaum Tennis Courts into the Kanawha Valley YMCA. Players from Marshall, WVU, and the University of Charleston competed, with local college athletes using the event as a tune-up for their upcoming seasons and area kids joining a Saturday clinic.

'Hurting my budget': Charleston drivers see gas prices climb (wowktv.com) — Drivers in Charleston are now paying about $4.33 per gallon for regular gas, up sharply from last week and far above last year's prices. Residents interviewed say the jump is straining budgets, especially for long commutes and students, while diesel in the Charleston area has climbed above $6.41 per gallon amid higher crude oil costs.
