Beekeepers association asks Wood County Commission for help funding 2027 state conference (wtap.com) — Parkersburg beekeepers are planning to host the 2027 West Virginia State Beekeepers Association conference in town and are asking Wood County commissioners, plus Parkersburg and Vienna officials, for financial support. Organizers expect about 300 attendees and a significant hotel and tourism boost, while also pursuing "Bee City USA" status for Parkersburg and a community apiary on Gihon Road. 
2. Sinkhole leaves event venue owner with over $400,000 in damage (wtap.com) — A massive sinkhole on Holiday Hills Drive has flooded Holbert's Forty-O-Six event venue in Parkersburg, causing at least $400,000 in damage and forcing cancellations of local parties and gatherings. State officials say they're working on a repair plan for the failed culvert near the Parkersburg Correctional Center, while the owner urges immediate action to prevent more flooding along Route 50 and nearby businesses.
3. Family says the rare 1970 muscle car was taken along with the trailer and truck hauling it (wtap.com) — A Parkersburg family briefly lost their rare 1970 GTO Judge convertible when it was stolen with the truck and trailer in Dayton, Ohio, but all were recovered about 12 hours later. The daughters had restored the car and recently brought it back to Parkersburg to share with friends, and they'll soon share more of its story and emotional meaning on WTAP.
4. WVU-led NSF RETI Engine builds regional workforce network to power energy economy (wvu.edu) — A major new $160 million NSF-backed energy workforce initiative is creating training pipelines that directly involve WVU Parkersburg and local employers, aiming to prepare residents for fast-growing energy and infrastructure jobs. From microcredentials to flexible associate degrees for working adults, the program is designed to keep more high-paying technical careers and talent rooted in communities like Parkersburg and across the region.
