Parkersburg Engagement Project launches survey seeking recovery feedback (wtap.com) — Parkersburg residents in addiction recovery are being asked to share what truly helped them heal and what stood in their way, shaping how local services are improved. The Parkersburg Engagement Project's new confidential survey, backed by city leaders, aims to pinpoint the most effective recovery supports and strengthen outpatient and transition programs for people returning to independent living. 
2. Wood BOE renews i-Ready after debate (newsandsentinel.com) — Wood County's school board in Parkersburg has renewed the i-Ready assessment program for 2026-27 after debate over its effectiveness, keeping the familiar testing platform in place for local students. Members also reviewed new attendance boundaries for upcoming Lincoln and Vienna elementary schools, received construction updates on several Parkersburg-area buildings, and approved key staffing and discipline actions affecting district operations.
3. Bee Association looking for county's help for gathering in February (newsandsentinel.com) — Wood County beekeepers are preparing to host the statewide West Virginia Beekeeping Conference in nearby Vienna in February 2027 and are asking Parkersburg-area governments for financial support. Organizers expect hundreds of visitors, significant hotel bookings, and an estimated $96,000 economic boost while also working to have Parkersburg recognized as a Bee City USA.
4. Delegate Vernon Criss Pledges to Support Congressional Term Limits - U.S. Term Limits (termlimits.com) — Parkersburg's own Delegate Vernon Criss has signed a pledge backing a national push for congressional term limits, aligning with the nonprofit U.S. Term Limits campaign. The group is working to get enough state legislatures, including West Virginia's, to demand a constitutional amendment convention focused solely on limiting how long members of Congress can serve.
5. Eastern on list of technical colleges to receive federal funds (wvnews.com) — West Virginia has secured a record $15 million federal grant to expand Educational Opportunity Centers, and West Virginia University at Parkersburg is one of the key participating colleges. Local adults and out-of-school young people will gain help with FAFSA, admissions, career counseling, and training connections, making it easier for Parkersburg residents to pursue new jobs and credentials.
