The project area includes Alabama Highway 69 from Mimosa Park Road to the Interstate 20/59 interchange. Plans also call for widening of Highway 69 to add one northbound lane and one southbound lane from Skyland Boulevard through the I-20/59 interchange.

Additional access management and targeted improvements are proposed along Skyland Boulevard from Highway 69 to Old Greensboro Road to improve traffic flow and safety.

ALDOT says the the proposed design is an at-grade solution and does not include construction of a bridge.

Officials also said the approach was selected as the most practical and cost-effective way to address current traffic demands, while still allowing for future upgrades if funding becomes available and traffic conditions change.

Project maps and comment forms will also be available online for those unable to attend the meeting.
