Pedestrian Struck At Busy Tuscaloosa Intersection Tuesday

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Police Department responded to the intersection of East Skyland Boulevard and East McFarland Boulevard Tuesday after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

The pedestrian, a 58-year-old man, was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment.

TPD said his injuries are serious but don’t appear life-threatening at this time.

Investigators determined that a 2013 Kia Optima was traveling south on East McFarland Boulevard and had entered a turn lane to travel east on East Skyland Boulevard when the pedestrian stepped into the roadway and was struck.

Portions of the intersection were closed to traffic while officers conducted the initial stages of the investigation, which is ongoing.

TPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit responded due to the initial severity of the reported injuries and conducted an investigation at the scene.
