Vance Woman Charged With Attempted Murder After Allegedly Shooting Daughter, Son-In-Law

VANCE, AL — A woman has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after investigators say she shot her daughter and son-in-law during a financial dispute Saturday night.

As Patch previously reported, the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Coaling Police Department and Vance Police Department responded at about 6 p.m. Saturday to a residence in the 11000 block of Hen Smith Road.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told local media that law enforcement arrived to find a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, while his wife had been shot once.
The man was airlifted to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries, but was listed in stable condition. The woman's injury was not considered life-threatening.

He then said Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit responded to investigate and said the couple had been living at the residence with the woman's mother, Angela Martin.
After interviewing witnesses and securing physical evidence, investigators determined Martin retrieved a firearm during a financial argument and shot both victims.
Martin was charged with two counts of attempted murder and booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail with no bond.
