Local leaders, nearby towns like Cave Creek, and tribal communities south of Phoenix are scrambling for backup sources, warning residents to expect higher costs, stricter conservation, and long legal battles over Arizona's share of the river.
   

2. New shade canopies coming to downtown Phoenix (abc15.com) — Downtown Phoenix walkers heading to Chase Field, the convention center, or light rail stops can expect new relief from the heat as six shade canopies are planned along Jefferson and Washington streets.
