The $440,000 system, funded through district capital money, has already been used for medical emergencies and is designed to speed responses beyond classroom phones, with possible future links to law enforcement.
   

2. Phoenix Police Arrest Fugitive In Mexico in 25-Year-Old Cold Murder Case (arizonadailyindependent.com) — Phoenix residents now have closure in a 25-year-old local murder case after police and federal partners arrested a 65-year-old suspect in Mexico and returned him to Arizona. Authorities say he's accused of a 2000 stabbing that killed his former girlfriend and critically injured another victim in a Phoenix home, and he now faces multiple felony charges.
   

3. 25 years after 9/11, Phoenix Fire focuses on firefighters' emotional well-being (abc15.com) — Phoenix firefighters and their families now have expanded, around-the-clock mental health support through the department's Member Services Division, funded by a recent city grant. As the 25th anniversary of 9/11 approaches, Phoenix Fire leaders describe how repeated traumatic calls affect crews and why on-scene peer support and counseling are becoming essential parts of the job.
