PERRIS, CA — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Perris, authorities said Sunday.

The crash was reported around 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the area of East Ramona Expressway and Evans Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Responding deputies located the pedestrian and attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was taken to a hospital and listed in stable condition, authorities added.

The victim's identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation, and no arrests had been made as of Sunday afternoon. Anyone with additional information about the case was encouraged to contact deputy Puente at 951-210-1000.
