Duo Convicted For Gunning Down Man At SF Housing Development In 2014: DA

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A man and a woman were convicted of murder and other charges Tuesday in connection with the shooting death of another man at a San Francisco Housing Development 12 years ago, prosecutors said.

A jury convicted LaCarla Carr, 44, and Marquez Harrison, 32, of murder, personally discharging a firearm causing death and being a felon in possession of a firearm, San Francisco prosecutors said.

The charges stem from the fatal shooting of Da’Ron Raynaldo on Nov. 27, 2014.

Carr was also found guilty of permitting a loaded firearm in a vehicle and being an accessory after the fact, according to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office.

"The jury’s verdict delivers justice to the victim’s family and friends who continue to grieve and are still deeply impacted by this horrible murder," District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said. "After nearly twelve years, this conviction demonstrates my office’s unwavering commitment to getting justice for victims and holding offenders accountable."

Authorities did not say whether Raynaldo and the defendants knew each other before the shooting.

Da'Ron Raynaldo was walking outside his home near the Potrero Hill Housing Development as Harrison and Carr drove around the area in a stolen car, prosecutors said.

When the duo spotted Raynaldo, Carr drove toward him and stopped outside his home, prosecutors said.

That's when Harrison got out of the car and shot a volley of gunfire at Raynaldo as the latter tried to run to his home, prosecutors said.

Raynaldo was struck twice in the back and died from his injuries, authorities said.

"I would like to thank the jury for holding defendants accountable for this senseless murder," said Assistant District Attorney Ryan J. King. "Mr. Raynoldo will be forever loved and remembered by his friends and family."
