1. Intermountain Health clinic in Grand Junction rec center set to open next week (westernslopenow.com) — A new Intermountain Health clinic inside the Grand Junction Community Recreation Center opens Sept. 28, bringing orthopedic rehab and primary care closer to residents on the east side of town. You won't need a rec center membership to use the services, and leaders say the clinic helps fill a major gap in physical therapy and primary care access in Mesa County.
   

2. Man hurt after crash down cliff (kkco11news.com) — An 18-year-old Grand Junction resident was injured Monday afternoon when their Toyota Tundra rolled 30 to 40 feet down a hill off Highway 139 near mile marker 33, temporarily closing the road. Law enforcement shut the highway for part of the afternoon to recover the vehicle and investigate the cause of the crash.
   

3. Colorado candidates square off in Club 20 debates in Grand Junction (cpr.org) — Grand Junction just hosted Club 20's big kickoff debates, bringing candidates for governor, U.S. Senate, Congress, and other statewide offices to town to spar over water, energy, wildfires, and rural representation. Some high-profile contenders skipped the stage, but those who showed outlined competing visions on spending, regulation, and how seriously they'll take Western Slope concerns if elected.
   

4. Grand Junction enters top 10 of Class 5A football power rankings (coloradopreps.com) — Grand Junction High School's Tigers have climbed into the top 10 of Colorado's Class 5A football power rankings, marking a big milestone for the program. The statewide list also highlights other Western Slope teams, giving local fans a snapshot of how Grand Junction stacks up against traditional Front Range powerhouses this week.
   

5. New sidewalks and drains improve Mesa County safety (westernslopenow.com) — New sidewalks, wider pavement, and upgraded drains along Greenbelt Drive and 22 ½ Road are now complete, improving safety for Grand Junction-area students and neighbors near Broadway Elementary. Mesa County, the City of Grand Junction, and School District 51 finished the $1 million project early and under budget, adding ADA-compliant crossings and better stormwater drainage.
